I wake up early , it seems a beautiful day yesterday was a bit cold so I decide to wear a hoodie . While I start walking it starts raining and wind blowing, oh f***! I enter in a cafè and I have breakfast , Australians would say brekkie . Even if it is raining ,I don’t care a lot because I’m going to the National Gallery that opens at 9 o’clock. I walk through wind and rain with just a hoodie and a pair of shorts , I hope not to show symptoms of an illness. I arrive to the Gallery and discover that it will open at 10 o’clock, is karma joking with me? The first museum building housing the National Gallery was the Royal Palace. Today, temporary exhibitions of Bulgarian and foreign art are on display in its halls. The Palace was built immediately after the Liberation of Bulgaria from Ottoman rule (1878) and following the selection of Sofia as the capital (1879). When the doors are opened I walk in looking like a drowned rat. I walk through paintings , royal objects , mirrors .The paintings displayed are inspired by religion and myths. Downstairs there is a temporary exhibition dedicated to Nadar, it’s super interesting .At 11 and half I go to the Sofia art gallery , over the years, Sofia Art Gallery has established itself as an important cultural space for the capital city. In 2006 it started its branch – the Vaska Emanouilova Gallery, which holds a collection of 89 sculptures, 38 drawings and 48 watercolours of the famous Bulgarian sculptress, part of which are displayed in a permanent exhibition. Today, the museum has four departments: painting, sculpture, graphics, contemporary art and photography, and the collection consists of more than 8,000 works of Bulgarian artists from the end of 19 century to date. Part of its sculptures are arranged in the open in the City Garden. The sky is still grey but at least it stops raining.
The afternoon the blue sky is back even the sun , so I decide to simply wander aimlessly. I start walking from the Aleksandr Nevskij Cathedral, I walk through streets and trees , among people, spotting little corners that amaze me . I watch my feet take steps across the glossy tiles, my dusty canvas sneakers next to the shined pointed-toe leather shoes of passing students .I walk and think. Thinking about life and how I want to embrace it , I want art galleries, I want the ocean, I want to write and read , I want to get lost , I want to travel , I want to feel. I see myself as a woman who walks, shoulders back, yet eyes frequently checking her own appearance; it is as if she felt superior and insecure all at once, perhaps that’s the emotional optimum in a shallow society. I could tell I’m real happy with who I’m, eyes on the sky, the trees and the birds, music in my soul as much as my ears.
I go to bed early after chatting with strangers.

The bell wakes me up at 5 , but I keep sleeping thug with difficulties. At 6.30 the bell is still ringing, I want to know what is going on. I go downstairs and 2 bulgarians (probably thieves) want to enter in . I don’t trust them , so I go back to sleep. I wake up at 8.20 .
My throat is killing me , with the few levs remained I go out and search for a pharmacy. But in the end I didn’t find it opened. So I give the levs to an homeless .I chat with Pablo before going to the bus station where I have to catch the bus for Bucharest at 11.30. I sit in the back , inserted in my ear the earbuds the 8 hours of bus can starts.8 hours full of sunflowers , fields , cities with soviet vibes , trees , villages ,animals. We cross the Danube and the customs . The 2007 enlargement of the European Union saw Bulgaria and Romania join the European Union (EU) on 1 January 2007. An article published on the 1.1.2007 refers “The New Year celebrations on the 31st of December 2006 were unusually noisy in Bucharest and Sofia. At last, two and a half years later than their central European neighbours, and 6 months later than originally envisaged because of concerns about the pace of reform of criminal justice systems and measures to tackle corruption, Romania and Bulgaria joined the European Union. Accession is likely to bring further economic growth. But will health also improve? Life expectancy at birth is at the bottom of the European Union league although in Bulgaria, and a little more unsteadily in Romania, it has been increasing rapidly since the late 1990 s. However, it cannot be assumed that this progress will continue. Rapid gains in life expectancy seen in Hungary in the years leading up to its accession have since slowed markedly while, in both Latvia and Lithuania, life expectancy in 2005 was lower than in 2004.”
We arrive at 17.20 , so I head to the Hostel. I catch the underground and get off to Piata Unirii.I walk along a long boulevard . The Hostel is near the old hospital , but the block is crumbling , full of mud . But the Hostel is quite nice . The shower is decent , finally, after the hostel in Bulgaria that had sink, toilet and shower in a little room , and the shower was just a tap. After a good shower I lay down for a bit watching a film , I fall asleep without knowing .
At midnight I wake up with high fever , sore throat, chills and hallucinations. I go to the hall in search of a duvet. While waiting I try to call my mum , but she doesn’t answer.I call my brother because I need a familiar voice . The phone is ringing , due to the high fever when my brother answers I start to cry . After taking the duvet and a tablet I go to bed.
Pioggia , febbre e Romania

Cammino e rifletto.
Vado a letto presto .

Arriviamo alle 17.20 , mi dirigo quindi all’ostello .
